Welcome to the site

This is the official website of Resonance the artist, and Resonant Frequency the recording, mixing, and production studio.

Who is Resonance? The short version...

Resonance is a freelance singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, mixer, producer and all-around muso who lives in Toronto, Canada.

Armed with a bachelors of fine arts degree (honours class) from York University in Toronto, a studio and company dubbed 'Resonant Frequency', and a knack for melody, he mostly churns out music of the pop-rock variety when writing for himself. For others it could be classical, urban, metal, new age, IDM for film or artist release - whatever the situation calls for.

Res is equally at home on stage having grown up performing in choral groups, professional choirs, youth orchestras, jazz and big-band ensembles, professional musical theatre productions, and the familiar high-school / university rock band bar and club scene. He has experience as a musical director, has been seen on Canadian national television, and holds an award from the Canadian Music Centre for orchestral composition.

- A bit of a site redesign to take care of resolution conflicts on smaller screens.  I loved the old horizontal layout but it was too much trouble, and this is a little cleaner.

- I've added three additional songs to the New Demos page - two of which were written during my one week participation in FAWM '08 so go have a listen

- Also, there's a possibility that one of the Marshall Whyler & Resonance tracks called "Blow It Away" will be released in an upcoming Nintendo© Wii game similar to Dance Dance Revolution (details pending) - listen to it here

It looks like Marshall Whyler and myself won't be releasing the new didjeridoo CD until 2009.  Hopefully we can coordinate it with a special performance in Dubai, but like all things in the music industry - until it's already happened you can't count on it.  Fingers crossed though.

As for the Res material, I'm toying with the idea of just chucking out a little EP instead of a full CD to see what happens...  I keep saying I'm going to release one and then I get sidetracked with something else - when I finally get back to it, the music is too far removed from where I was as a person when I originally wrote it.  Does that make sense?
